Grad School Diaries Pt. 2

Sometimes life feels like one BIG juggling act; work, school, family, children, spouse, significant other. Managing and maintaining life, relationships, AND fitting self-care somewhere in between. I hear wise people speaking and they often say as a woman, you can have it all just not at the same time. Do you believe that to be truth for you? How satisfied do you feel putting your focus on ONE area of your life? I can only speak for myself when I say if I am not actively pursuing my purpose, I feel a sense of guilt and conviction. Nothing makes me feel more accomplished than raising smart, well mannered, kind children. When I receive compliments about my children, it warms my heart and makes me feel as if I have done my due diligence in the world.

When I decided to pursue grad school, I knew I wanted to pursue my degree at my own pace. After getting through undergrad, I felt as if I didn't have anything to prove to anyone, not even myself. I knew once I put my mind to something, no matter what hardship, or obstacle attempt to get in my way, I would get through it. I assume that's what resilience is all about.

Wherever you are in your journey; thinking about higher education, going back to finish, just getting started, or almost at the finish line, YOU GOT THIS! Lock in and learn your learning style and what fuels you OUTSIDE of higher learning. Find your WHY, your ZEAL, and your motivation for moving forward. The road consist of many doubts, hardships, late nights, early morning, and a ton of sacrifice, but anything worth having is worth pursuing in the midst of adversity.

I got hit and currently still getting hit with curveballs left and right. Things are not always what you expect them to be. You should have seen me during the first semester of my internship, I was so excited and eager to get out into the field! Things were moving slow and I quickly realized that I set my expectations way too high. Now that I am approaching the finish line, I am so grateful that I endured the race. Stay tuned for the NEXT blog post!
